How do you read the Dubai Metro map?

The Green Line runs between e& at G11 and Creek at G30, with Union at G20 and BurJuman at G26 serving as transfer points to the Red Line.

On the Green Line, Al Qiyadah is G16 and Abu Hail is G17; they are consecutive stations. From either one, head toward e& to reach Union, or toward Creek to reach BurJuman. These station numbers and directions can help you trace the route on a Dubai Metro map.

For Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall, take the Green Line from Al Qiyadah or Abu Hail and transfer to the Red Line at Union or BurJuman. Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall is Red Line station R25; the Burj Khalifa visit and transport guide covers planning the visit from Bur Dubai.

What are the fares, Nol cards and station rules?

What are the fares, Nol cards and station rules?

Dubai’s public-transport fare system divides the city into seven zones, and the fare depends on how many zones you pass through. RTA lists these regular fares:

  • Silver Nol: AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 for two adjacent zones, or AED 7.50 for more than two zones.
  • Gold Nol: AED 6 within one zone, AED 10 for two adjacent zones, or AED 15 for more than two zones.
  • Red Ticket: AED 4 within one zone, AED 6 for two adjacent zones, or AED 8.50 for more than two zones.
  • Gold Red Ticket: AED 8 within one zone, AED 12 for two adjacent zones, or AED 17 for more than two zones.

Tap your Nol card at the station gate when entering and exiting; the fare is calculated using the zones passed. RTA requires a Nol card to have at least AED 7.50 balance to use the Metro. If you change between transport modes, make the transfer within 30 minutes for the fare system to treat it as one journey.

Students and senior Emiratis and residents with concession Nol cards receive a 50% Metro fare discount. People of Determination travel free.

How do you reach central Dubai and the airport?

How do you reach central Dubai and the airport?

For central Dubai, use the Green Line to reach a Red Line interchange at Union or BurJuman, then change lines for destinations such as Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall.

The route from Al Qiyadah or Abu Hail depends on which interchange you choose: travel toward e& for Union, or toward Creek for BurJuman. A one-day Dubai itinerary from Bur Dubai can help you put city stops together.

For arrival planning, the airport-to-hotel journey is a separate trip to arrange.
